Last week our students were learning about the celebration of Diwali. We read some books to further our understanding of this celebration, looking at pictures, and websites.
We also made some diyas to decorate our room for our own class celebration.
Some of our discussions focussed on how this celebration was similar to others we celebrate in order to develop students understanding of and respect for others in our school community and the world.
We also made some tasty traditionally eaten treats. The receipe is available on-line for anyone who wishes to give it a go. Namak Pare
One of our former students even came to our classroom to share her personal experiences about celebrating Diwali with her family.
