Forest of Reading

Our students at Tumpane have been participating in the Forest of Reading program this year.  Every year, librarians from the Ontario Library Association nominate books for Forest of Reading Competition.  These book titles, for different age groups, are read by participants, in this case our students and their teachers, and then voted on, with each child identifying the book they enjoyed the most.  Students in our grade read all ten books from the Blue Spruce category, discussed them, decided if they liked them and later chose the one they enjoyed the most.

Some of the most popular books in our class were, The Good Little Book, and Snap!  Stanley at School and The Night Gardener were also well liked.

If you are interested in re-reading the nominated books, all are available from the Toronto Public Library.  The full list can be found on the Ontario Library Association’s website, as well as lists of previous nominees and winners.  Your local librarian will be familiear with these titles and can help you find them, too.
