This term, students have been exploring geometry concepts, specifically two-dimensional shapes. We began our work, brainstorming what we already knew about shapes, then sharing it with the class.
Later we went on scavenger hunts, looking for shapes all around our room.
We also read poems, charts and books about shapes.
Children wrote some of their own books about shapes as well. We used many of our classroom materials to explore shapes and turn them into other things, such as people, living things and robots.
We also made our own shapes using our bodies, our buddies, through self-driven creative projects and with mathematics materials.
At home, you can go scavenger-hunting for shapes around the house, when walking outside or at the store, or when driving in the car.
