This last term we have continued reading a variety of favourite fairy tales, such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Students then had an opportunity to re-engage with the text through our new drama centre. Children have taken on the role of many characters in the book, using voice, props and social interaction to develop their understanding of the events and retell the story.
After reading many versions of the Three Bears story, some students have even amended their drama to include new and different characters (sisters for Goldilocks, extra baby bears, an auntie bear and a dog).
Some of the books we have read include Goldilocks and the Three Bears by James Marshall, Goldilocks and Just One Bear by Leigh Hodgkinson, Me and You by Anthony Browne, Goldie and the Three Hares by Margie Palatini, Somebody and the Three Blairs by Marilyn Tolhurst and finally Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs by Mo Willems. Most of the books are available at the Public Library.
