All About Shapes

This term we have been working on two-dimensional geometry.  We have been examining and discussing various shapes.

Later we documented all that we knew about shapes like circles, squares, triangles and rectangles.

This week we continued our studies in centres, using various tools to create different shapes.  Here is what our learning looked like.

Children later had more time to use and explore these learning tools in our classroom.  Some also played various games involving shapes.

Students also had a chance to create pictures using various shape materials at the mathematics, painting and creative centres.

Some books we have been reading about shapes include: The Greedy Triangle by Marilyn Burns and The Shapes of Things by Dayle Ann Dodds.

Later we will be exploring 3-dimensional geometry.
